I strongly recommend that veterans with disability ratings check into home care through the VA. My husband has a 100% disability rating. We qualify to have home care up to 6 hours per week. We have chosen a company called Cornerstone which provides help for two hours twice a week for laundry and light house work. This is such a huge relief to me, because my husband’s medical issues require help with all ADLs.

I was walking through the Resource page on VA Benefits and lo and behold i have just completed an application for a simple VA package that i did not know about!! dsykes54 has also mentioned a few more things that you can read about and possibly get.

Also, veterans with disabilities may get a reduction on their property taxes, depending on where they live. I've just applied for a disabled veterans exemption for my husband. This is in addition to our regular homestead exemption. I expect it to be approved and applied.

With a 100% disability rating, if it's service-connected, your husband may qualify for financial disability payments. If you haven't already, check with your county VA rep, who can get the ball rolling with appointments for evaluation by medical providers contracted for the VA. Plus after he passes, there may be survivor benefits for you.
