My husband (PD patient) is quickly reaching the stage where I can no longer care for him at home (I meet all 6-7 criteria for caregiver burnout).

Find Care & Housing
Before you get him on Medicaid you need to talk to an Elder Lawyer to get your assets split. Your husbands dplit will go towards his care. When that is almost gone, you then apply for Medicaid. When he is on Medicaid, you will remain in the home, be allowed one car, and receive all or enough of your monthly income to live on.

No, Medicare is health insurance it doesn't cover facilities.

You would need to get him on Medicaid long term care.

Go to www.nelf.org and find a certified elder law attorney in your area to help you navigate how to split assets, apply for all or part of his income if it is needed for your living expenses and to apply for medicaid.

Start researching today and he will be safely cared for in a facility before you know it. Moving forward should make you feel better as the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned on.

Great big warm hug!
